Adult Basic Education

adult learner with tutor

Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a free program for adults who want to strengthen their education and professional skills. Anoka-Ramsey Community College partners with local ABE programs, Cambridge-Isanti Community Education and Metro North ABE to provide additional support in its classes at the Coon Rapids and Cambridge campuses. Anoka-Ramsey classes are supported by licensed adult education teachers and trained volunteers who provide additional in-class support to help students achieve their educational goals.

ABE programs also hold classes at their own locations. Adult education classes are for all adults who want to improve their reading, writing, math and English skills helping you develop and improve the skills necessary to be successful in college and the workplace. Having a diploma or degree does not disqualify you from enrolling. ABE classes are taught by licensed teachers. Trained volunteers provide additional hands-on support to help students meet their educational goals.

ABE offers classes in:

  • College and Career Preparation
  • English (ESL)
  • GED
  • Diploma
