Nursing: Traditional (RN) Track or LPN to RN Track
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) Nursing Program has fully transitioned into our current curriculum. The nursing program prepares graduates to provide care to individuals, families, and communities in health promotion, chronic illness and acute simple and acute complex care. As well as end of life care. The program leverages evidence-based, innovative practices to produce knowledgeable, diverse, and skilled nursing graduates that can transition to practice and/or can transition to complete a four-year-degree.
Successful completion in as few as four semesters leads to the option for an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing offered by Anoka-Ramsey Community College and eligibility to take the NCLEX RN licensure examination. Nursing students may then continue for additional semesters leading to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Nursing (BSN) offered by Minnesota State University Moorhead or Metropolitan State University. Nursing courses at ARCC are offered during the daytime only during the spring and fall semester.

nursing holistic admissions at arcc
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College nursing admissions review team evaluates nursing applications from a holistic review lens. The holistic review team carefully evaluates three components of the application materials submitted to determine applicants’ preparedness for the rigor of the nursing program. Admission credit is awarded for each component, Metrics, Experiences, and Attributes.
Metrics (55%): Health Science Reasoning Test (HSRT) total score, course grades, and resident credit. A minimum HSRT score of 74 is required for application.
Experience (31%): Health and other work experiences and volunteer experience, LPN status, and education (any college degree).
Attributes (14%): Two essays, each 250 words or less.
Details about these components are provided in the posted documents. Please review application and admissions information on this webpage before applying to the nursing program at ARCC.
All applicants are required to complete the Health Science Reasoning Test (HSRT). TEAS is no longer accepted. Information about the required Health Science Reasoning Test (HSRT):
- Registration steps for the HSRT testing and other resources about test preparation is available at HSRT resources and testing in Testing Services at ARCC
- A minimum HSRT score of 74% is required before applying to the nursing program.
- Scores for HSRT tests taken at other colleges/institutions cannot transfer to ARCC, nor can ARCC transfer HSRT scores for tests taken at ARCC to other colleges/institutions.
- The HSRT may be taken at ARCC once per application cycle and scores are valid for 2 years. The highest score vs. most recent score is used for admission scoring if students have more than one valid HSRT test taken within two years at the time of application.
- HSRT testing is open for three months for respective application cycles: November 1 through February 1 for fall applicants, and April 1 through July 1 for spring applicants.
