The Associate of Science degree (AS) is intended for those students who wish to balance liberal arts education with career-oriented classes. Approximately one-half of the coursework consists of liberal arts or general education credits and one-half comprises career-oriented courses. The primary purpose of this degree is to provide the credentials for a specific career and prepare graduates for admission to a four-year college.

Alcohol and Drug Counseling Studies

Alcohol and Drug Counseling Studies

This program is designed for students interested in the field of alcohol and drug counseling. The program prepares graduates for the written test and oral examination which are required for Minnesota state licensure. The 28-credit Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certificate is completed as part of the Alcohol and Drug Counseling Studies Associate of Science degree. Completion of the certificate allows the student to practice under a temporary ADC licensure en route to earning a Bachelor’s degree within five years. (NOTE: the written test and case review must be satisfied as defined by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy).
