Voter Information for College Students

More Minnesota Voter Information

  • College students in Minnesota are encouraged to register to vote at the residence they currently consider home. That may be a home address for a parent or guardian or a college residence.

More about residency from Minnesota’s Secretary of State.

  • Register before Election Day

Qualified voters can register online. Information on additional ways to register is available at that URL.

Pre-election registration, whether online or via other means, will not be processed within 20 days of an election. If you miss that deadline, just register when you vote (see below).

    Register on Election Day

Minnesota voters may register when they vote, either early by mail or in person, or on Election Day at their polling place. Learn more about same-day registration requirements.
