Catfishing on CatNet (Tor Teen, 2019) is Naomi Kritzer’s riveting young adult fiction novel. The New York Times called the book “A pure delight...that’s as tender and funny as it is gripping and fast-paced. This book is perfect. From the believable teenage voices to the shockingly effective thriller plot, it swings effortlessly from charming humor to visceral terror, grounding it all in beautiful friendships, budding romance, and radical acceptance.”
Catfishing on CatNet, won the 2020 Minnesota Book Award for Best Young Adult Novel, the Edgar Award for Best Young Adult Novel, and the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book. Catfishing on CatNet also was a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice/Staff Pick, a Kirkus Reviews Best Book, and a Junior Library Guild Selection.
Naomi Kritzer has been writing science fiction and fantasy for over twenty years. Her newest book is Chaos on CatNet, which is a sequel to Catfishing on CatNet, and is set in Minneapolis. She lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, with her spouse, two kids (when the college kid is home from college) and four cats. The number of cats is subject to change without notice. Find Naomi online at naomikritzer.com or on Twitter as @naomikritzer.
The event, which is supported by the college’s English Department, is free and open to the public. Two Rivers Reading Series Chair and English Faculty Paige Riehl said, “Catfishing on Catnet is an action-packed coming-of-age story about Steph, whose online chat group offers steady support in her otherwise on-the-run life. Is Steph’s father dangerous and tracking her as she and her mother move from town to town? In her cat-loving chat group, is ChesireCat friend, foe, or something else? Kritzer’s book is a compelling must-read for both teens and adults.” For more information and a link to the webinar visit the Two Rivers Reading Series website at tworiversarcc.wordpress.com/.
During the 2019-2020 academic year, the Two Rivers Reading Series celebrated 20 years of bringing acclaimed, award-winning authors, poets, and playwrights to Anoka-Ramsey each semester. The series events strive to make learning more comprehensive by combining classwork with real-world experiences, as students study the authors’ work in their English courses.
