College hosts culturally accepting production Breaking Ice Tuesday, Dec. 6.
November 22, 2016
Anoka-Ramsey Community College has invited Pillsbury House Theater to perform their award-winning program, Breaking Ice on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 1 to 3 pm. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
“The Breaking Ice performance evoked numerous emotions for me,” said Venoreen Browne-Boatswain, Director of Diversity and Multiculturalism. “I left the show trying to answer many of the questions that were stirred up during the performance and discussion held afterwards. I strongly recommend that people attend and hope the impact was as strong for them as it was for me.”
Breaking Ice is a customized, professional theater experience created for organizations and businesses that need help with difficult issues, both interpersonal and institutional.
The program was created after recognizing that every organization wrestles with communication, often based on misunderstanding of cultural differences. It’s designed to overcome roadblocks created by the fear of differences. The performance allows viewers to look past surface differences and remember that we are all created equal.
More about Breaking Ice
Breaking Ice, one of Pillsbury House Theatre’s signature, award-winning programs, is an entertaining and thought-provoking theatre experience designed to foster better understanding and communication around difficult issues.
Each customized Breaking Ice performance uses drama, humor, poetry and monologue to explore how systemic inequities, unconscious bias and misperceptions show up in relationships among people, creating friction that impedes innovation, motivation and productivity.
An organized discussion facilitated by a trained Breaking Ice performer follows each performance and uses deep reflection and dialogue as a springboard to positive action.
