Be a Teacher, Change the World Inspires Students to Pursue the Teaching Profession

On December 19, 2023 Be a Teacher, Change the World event welcomed 100 high school students to the Anoka-Ramsey campus to promote the teaching profession. In a partnership with Elevate Teaching and using Perkins funding the event welcomed the 2023 MN Teacher of the Year, Michael Houston. Houston works as a teacher in the St. Paul school district and is the 59^th recipient of the award. He spoke on his life growing up and how he found his way to the teaching profession to inspire students to explore their passions.

After the presentation from Houston there were a variety of interactive sessions and a panel of professionals to share inspiration and pathway information. Students attended the event from Anoka0Hennipin, Cambridge-Isanti, Elk River, Monticello, and Princeton.
