Elementary Education Foundations Transfer Pathway Degree
The Elementary Education Foundations Transfer Pathway Associate in Science (AS) offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an AS degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Elementary Education bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.
Minnesota State Transfer Pathways offer students curriculum that is designed to fully transfer to a parallel program at one of seven universities in the Minnesota State system:
- Bemidji State University
- Metropolitan State University
- Minnesota State University, Mankato
- Minnesota State University, Moorhead
- Southwest Minnesota State University
- St. Cloud State University
- Winona State University
Upon completion of the program, graduates will demonstrate achievement of program outcomes by being able to:
- Apply and develop teaching methods based on effective principles and practices related to the learning process.
- Identify learner variables that become the basis of instructional design.
- Develop and demonstrate competence in designing valid and reliable assessment practices for purposes of assessing student performance and evaluating programs and services.
- Demonstrate and apply fundamental knowledge of teacher-centered and student-centered philosophies in designing program and service options.
- Understand and apply motivational theory and cognitive principles in designing and delivering instruction.
- Demonstrate knowledge of technology resources and application of technology options in lesson design.
- Become familiar with educational practices and positive teacher perspectives that will result in ethical programming that appeals to all diverse groups with respect to their individual differences and contributions to society.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the influence of use and misuse of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and other chemicals on student life and learning.
- A minimum of 60 semester credits in courses numbered 1000 or above. (for a two-year degree program.)
- A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 in courses numbered 1000 or above at ARCC.
- A minimum grade of C or higher must be earned in all “program requirements.”
- A minimum of 20 semester credits applied toward the degree must be taken from ARCC. This requirement may be reduced from 20 to 12 semester credits for students transferring in at least 8 semester credits from either another Minnesota State college or the University of Minnesota. (for a two-year degree program.)
- Completion of specific degree requirements; you must apply to graduate. Completing the degree requirements does not automatically confer the degree.

Complete at least 40 credits in courses from the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC), including all courses listed. You must complete all ten goal areas and maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA for the entire MnTC. One course may satisfy more than one goal area, but the course credits may be counted only once.
