College Music Department offers a trio of musical events Nov. 20

November 13, 2018

Three campus choirs in the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Music Department will join voices in a concert Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, 7 to 9 pm, in the Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center. The concert will mark the North American debut of a choral soundtrack to “Frankenstein: The Movie”, with visual accompaniment from the film during the performance.

The Concert Choir is a 60-80 voice ensemble that performs in three on-campus concerts per year, and also participates in a day-tour each semester, traveling to area schools, churches, synagogues and other colleges. Every year, the Concert Choir performs a masterwork-level piece of repertoire with a professional orchestra.

The Chamber Singers are an auditioned vocal chamber ensemble consisting of 22 music majors and non-majors. Under the direction of Richard Joseph, the singers perform a wide variety of challenging repertoire, ranging from early Renaissance to contemporary works, including vocal jazz.

The Women’s Chorale is a mixed-voice choral ensemble open to all students at the college as well as alumni, employees of the college and community members without an audition. The chorale performs in a formal concert each semester. Prior music reading and choral experience is helpful, but not necessary for successful participation.
