Anoka-Ramsey Community College Foundation relies on alumni, like Dave Schweikert, to support student scholarships. In honor of his time at Anoka-Ramsey and of his mother, Veronica, who fulfilled her passion of serving others as a registered nurse, Schweikert has established a $500 Veronica Schweikert Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a Coon Rapids Campus Nursing student in fall semester 2017.

“I just want to help ensure that at least one Nursing student has a successful start at Anoka-Ramsey and can pursue their dream of being a nurse,” said Schweikert of the scholarship. “I know my mother would be very proud.”

Anoka-Ramsey Community College awards approximately $147,000 is scholarships each year.  The foundation opens scholarships to prospective and currently attending students two or three times each year. The current scholarship opening will close Oct. 15, 2016 and students will receive awards in January for the spring semester 2017.

“Students planning to attend Anoka-Ramsey Community College should consider applying for a scholarship,” said Anoka-Ramsey Scholarship Coordinator, Lisa Sisson. “Scholarships range from $500, half the cost of a semester for a part-time student, to $3,000, the full cost of books and tuition for one semester for a full-time student.”

The positive impact on scholarship recipients is clear.

“The only clear plan I have about my career is that I want to save the world one person at a time,” said Sara Bossany, Coon Rapids Campus Nursing student and past scholarship recipient. “I recognize my goal is lofty, but for me saving the world is making the small moments in patient care, in addition to the large ones, significant. My plan would not have been possible without the donors who make our education possible.”
