Math Department Recognized for Partnership Supporting Adult Learners

June 26, 2025

Anoka-Ramsey’s Math Department will be honored by the Literacy Action Network (LAN) for its long-standing partnership and contributions to the success of students enrolled in Metro North Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs.

Through thoughtfully designed academic integrations, Anoka-Ramsey’s Math Department and Metro North ABE have grown new ways to teach adult learners.

“This partnership thrives on mutual respect and constant communication. As we design course schedules, ARCC considers ABE programming, testing, and funding requirements,” Amber Delliger wrote on behalf of Metro North ABE math collaborative teachers in their letter of nomination. “Every decision is made collaboratively to ensure both institutions can meet students’ needs effectively and equitably. It is hard to understate the complicated nature of getting two very different institutions to mechanically integrate, but ARCC faculty and staff have been diligent in making it work.”

“This innovative collaboration would not be possible without the hard work of our outstanding math faculty and ABE partner teachers,” says Anoka-Ramsey Community College Interim STEM Dean Andy Aspaas. “ARCC is so fortunate to have such a strong group of professionals dedicated to the success of our students.”

Anoka-Ramsey’s Math Department will receive LAN’s Innovation Award during a formal ceremony later this summer.
