Due to the generosity of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation $25,000 donation to the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge Campus Foundation, Nursing students at that have the opportunity to earn a $1000 scholarship.
This marks the 15th year that Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation has made a donation to Nursing students at the Cambridge Campus. Since 2008, this donation has served over 200 Nursing students at the Cambridge Campus.
“We hear over and over what a life changing experience this scholarship can be for our students,” said Jamie Barthel, Interim Director of Institutional Advancement at the college. “Of course it helps a student financially but, as we have heard through countless testimonials, it also lets a student know that someone believes in them. That belief makes a lasting impression. So, on behalf of the college and those students, I thank Memorial Hospital Foundation for their continued dedication to education and for their positive impact in the lives of our future nurses.”
Registered nursing is one of the top ten fastest growing jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, new registered nurses are expected to fill more than a million job openings nationwide this decade.
The Registered Nursing program at the Cambridge Campus began in January 2003 in response to Minnesota’s nursing shortage and to provide area health care workers an opportunity to continue training to become registered nurses and stay in their own communities. Nursing graduates currently have the opportunity to continue their education in the Registered Nurse to bachelor of science in Nursing degree program available at Cambridge Campus through Bemidji State University.
