Anoka-Ramsey Welcomes Dr. Jennifer Hodges as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs

June 02, 2025

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is proud to welcome Dr. Jennifer Hodges as its new Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. She began at the college in April 2025.

She says getting to know our campus communities has given her an opportunity to appreciate some if their unique connections.

“One thing that is intriguing to me about Anoka-Ramsey is the uniqueness of our two campuses and the communities that each campus serves.  In contrast, our students tell us they identify as Anoka-Ramsey students rather than as Cambridge campus or Rapids campus students,” she says. “That balance of campus uniqueness and strong college identity is striking.”

Prior to accepting the VP position, Jennifer was the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness at Doña Ana Community College (DACC) in southern New Mexico. In this role, she served as the HLC Accreditation Liaison Officer, directed the Office of Institutional Analysis, and supported assessment, strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and programs with specialized accreditation. Previously, she served DACC as the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Before joining DACC, Jennifer worked at New Mexico State University (NMSU), first in the College of Arts and Sciences and then as the inaugural Director of the Center for Academic Advising and Student Support. Prior to NMSU, Jennifer was Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the University of North Texas and Assistant Dean of University College at the University of Akron. She has also served as Director of Undergraduate Programs in Business at the University of Akron and worked in Academic Advising at Michigan State University and Northern Kentucky University.

Jennifer is a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice. She has also served on the editorial board of the Journal of The First-Year Experience & Students in Transition, been a member of the NACADA Academic Advising Consulting and Speaker Service, and presented at local, regional, and national conferences. Jennifer has taught undergraduate courses in career planning, leadership, and orientation to college as well as graduate courses in student development theory, history of higher education, and assessment in student affairs.

Jennifer earned her Ph.D. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University in 2007. She is also a graduate of Texas A&M University and Ball State University.
