Abigail (Schraufnagel) Strauss ‘13
Originally from North Branch, Minn., Strauss attended Anoka-Ramsey Community College to get a quality education with small class sizes close to her family.
After finishing her generals, Strauss transferred to Winona State University where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Strauss continued her education at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago and completed a Doctor of Optometry degree and an optometry residency in Low Vision and Ocular Disease at the Jesse Brown VA in Chicago.
Strauss is currently living her dream and is thankful for the faculty at Anoka-Ramsey in helping propel her forward.
“Anoka-Ramsey truly had amazing faculty. They did an excellent job providing me with a great base knowledge during my generals to propel me forward,” said Strauss, “When additional help was needed the tutoring center was an excellent resource and everyone was incredibly friendly. Everyone at ARCC truly wants to see you succeed.”
Today, Strauss is in the process of completing a fellowship in Advanced Medically Necessary Contact Lenses at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
“I am so blessed to be able to perform specialty contact lens exams for those in need,” she shared.
