College proudly announces new Exercise Science degree

Students in Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s new Exercise Science program collect personal fitness data for a research project at the college’s state-of-the-art Health and Wellness Center. Through a transfer agreement with Southwest Minnesota State University, students who complete an AS degree in Exercise Science at Anoka-Ramsey can further their degree path with a bachelor of science degree in Exercise Science on the Anoka-Ramsey Coon Rapids Campus starting this fall.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College now offers a new associate in science degree (AS) with an emphasis in Exercise Science.

The associate in science in Exercise Science degree allows students with an interest in physical fitness and exercise performance to develop a scientific understanding of the body's response to exercise. Students will learn in and have access to the college’s new state-of-the-art Health and Wellness Center.

Areas of study for this degree include first aid and CPR, nutrition, wellness, weight training and conditioning, prevention and care of injuries, kinesiology, exercise physiology, fitness testing and exercise prescription.

Transfer Agreement

In a newly-formed partnership, Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) will bring their bachelor of science (BS) in Exercise Science program to the Coon Rapids Campus starting fall 2016. Students who wish to further their degree path can seamlessly transfer their AS in Exercise Science degree from Anoka-Ramsey into a bachelor of science (BS) degree in Exercise Science. All BS courses are held on the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids campus.
