Program Eligibility Requirements
Upward Bound at Anoka-Ramsey is 100% federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The Department of Education determines the eligibility criteria that students must meet in order to participate in the Upward Bound program. All participants must be either U.S. Citizens or have permanent residency status (must be able to provide program with permanent residency number).
Students should be motivated to work to prepare for graduation and get ready to enter college. In addition, students must meet at least one of the following two requirements:
- Be a first-generation college student (neither parent, or parent that you live with, has completed a four-year bachelor's degree) and/or
- Come from a family that reports modest income (this year's tax information is required with your application and UB staff will determine eligibility)
Students are not required to have a minimum GPA.
It is expected that students accepted into Upward Bound take the program requirements seriously. Upward Bound is a privilege and needs to be treated as such. Students accepted into the program that do not meet the participation requirements may be put on probation or excused from the program to allow other students to join.
Upward Bound does not provide scholarships. However, we work with students to apply for college scholarships.
