“The Altered Book” exhibition brings student poetry to life through visual arts

January 18, 2019

In a collaborative project between a poetry class and visual arts design class at Anoka-Ramsey Community College books once destined for the dumpster are brought to life.

Students in the poetry class were each given the books and asked to write a poem that reflect, channel or was inspired by the book. Completed poems and the books were then given to the visual arts design class to repurpose into unique pieces of art, inspired by the poems.

“The Altered Book” exhibition, will remain on display throughout the hallway on the second floor of the Music Building on the Coon Rapids Campus until Thursday, Feb. 21.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, a closing reception with poetry reading will be held at 5 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building, Rm VA203.
