Diversity office hosts Indigenous Peoples’ Day Speaker event Oct. 9 and Dakota Pipeline Panel Discussion Nov. 14

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Office of Diversity and Multiculturalism is hosting speaker event for Indigenous Peoples Day Oct. 9, and a panel discussion addressing the Dakota and the Keystone XL pipelines Nov. 14. Both events are free and open to the public.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day Speaker event
Speaker: Clyde Bellecourt, a member of the White Earth Ojibwa and civil rights organizer
Monday, Oct. 9

Coon Rapids Campus Riverview Room
The event will focus on the contributions Native Americans have made to the land before and after it became the U.S.

Dakota Pipeline Panel Discussion
Tuesday, Nov. 14
12:30 to 1:30 pm
Coon Rapids Campus Legacy Room
This event includes a presentation of photos and stories from the pipeline protests to facilitate a dialog about what was behind the pipeline demonstrations and the temporary halt of the flow of gas.
