College hosted Veteran Resource Fair in November
December 02, 2016
Anoka-Ramsey Community College hosted a Veteran Resource Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 11 am to 2 pm, in the Coon Rapids Campus Riverview Room.
Veterans attended to learn about their benefits and other resources in their community.
“It is great to have all of these veteran services in one place,” said Jeff Sollman, current Anoka-Ramsey student and veteran of the United States Navy. “I’ve been attending Anoka-Ramsey since April and I am still learning about all the resources available to me as a veteran.”
More than 15 different service providers present from veteran organizations on campus including the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Legion, Anoka County Veterans Service Office, Vocational Rehabilitation, VA Medical Health Care System, Brooklyn Park Veteran Center and a vendor with information about VA educational benefits.
“We are so thankful that we were able to have all of these great service providers come to campus and bring these resources directly to our students,” said Jeff Pool, Anoka-Ramsey’s veteran advisor. “Between school, work, family obligations and medical appointments, it can be hard for our veteran-students to search out all of the helpful resources available to them. Having everyone in one room shows our students and our community just how many organizations provide support for them and their families.”
