Cambridge Campus hosts prom for all gender identities and sexual orientations

April 23, 2018

The Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA), a student organization at Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s Cambridge Campus is hosting a prom themed, “Perfectly Natural” on Friday, May 4 from 7 to 10 pm in Room G201. The prom offers a safe space for people of all gender identities and sexual orientations to enjoy a public dance.

This year’s prom marks the second annual event held at the Cambridge Campus. GSA hosts the dance, which is the largest student-run event that the group organizes each year at the college. GSA educates on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight issues; and works toward eliminating intolerance and prejudice. The student group encourages informal activities throughout the year which foster healthy social interactions, understanding and acceptance.

“The prom event mirrors that same all-inclusive goal,” said advisor Mackenzie Krzmarzick. “We are excited to spread our mission of acceptance and inclusion to the Isanti County area.”

GSA president Ben Kietzman agreed. “This prom event is a strong and powerful statement to the college community of providing a safe space for all people.”

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
