Artist Len Davis visits college for workshop, talk and exhibition in November
October 20, 2016
Anoka-Ramsey Community College will showcase work by contemporary artist Len Davis, Thursday, Nov. 10 through Wednesday, Nov. 30 in the Coon Rapids Campus Great River Gallery during college hours.
The exhibition opens Nov.10 with a reception for the artist 5 to 6 pm in the Coon Rapids Campus Great River Gallery. Davis will hold an artist talk preceding the reception from 4 to 5 pm in VA208. Both events are free and the public is encouraged to attend.
“Len Davis is a mixed media artist living and working in Los Angeles,” said college Art Faculty member Rick Schneider. “His work is an exciting mix of painting, collage and drawing, which has been shown extensively in solo and group shows. One of his pieces appeared on the wall of Frazier's apartment in the Frazier television show.”
Davis will also hold a workshop Wednesday, Nov. 9, 3 to 5 pm in VA103. This event is also free and the public is welcome to attend, however, the program is limited to 30 participants. For more details or to make arrangements to attend the workshop, contact Art Faculty member Rick Schneider at Rick.Schneider@anokaramsey.edu
More about Len Davis
Len Davis is a mixed media artist who combines elements such as found-objects, drawings, print outs, text, graphite, color pencil, gouache, acrylic and pastel to create various textures and colors. Davis’s pieces deal with life itself, the people we are, what we create, our capabilities and the issues we deal with. His premise is to lure the viewer in and place them in a position to reflect on and question their ethics.
