Department Description
Our department seeks to serve Anoka-Ramsey Community College students by providing quality theatre learning opportunities for majors and non-majors alike.  The Theatre Associate of Fine Arts degree curriculum includes a wide range of courses with particular emphasis on performance and technical theatre.  We seek to serve the college and engage the community by producing varied and thought-provoking plays throughout the academic year.  All Anoka-Ramsey Community College students are welcome to participage in theatre classes and productions regardless of prior experience.

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge Campus performance area is a proscenium-style, intimate theatre with 145-plus seats and wheelchair access for four patrons.  The stage supports a variety of theatre experiences and offers students a challenging environment in an intimate actor/audience setting.
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center is a proscenium style theatre with continental seating including 320 seat and wheelchair space for 8 patrons.  With only 12 rows, no seat is further than 50 feet from the state.  The 40 foot wide by 48 foot deep stage boasts 20 feet of wing space on either side allowing for intimate box sets, full-scale musicals, and even opera or ballet.

Academic Options
The AFA degree in Theatre offers a two-year associate in fine arts (AFA) degree in theatre which is designed primarily for students who plan to transfer to another college or

Begin your career path to theatrical success by visiting the AFA web site for degree requirements and other information.  See the course schedule for current course offerings.

Flavio Betrayed:  A Commedia

Written and Directed by Scott Ford

April 17, 18, 23, 24, 25

Flavio Betrayed:  A Commedia is a high-spirited-brow comedy about romance, deceit, friendship, and stinky cheese.  An amourous and eager young man.  Oratio hatches a scheme to steal the hand of the beautiful Isabella from his dear friend Flavio.  Meanwhile, Isabella's father has plans for her to marry Capitano Spavento, a soldier and poet considerably past his prime.  Isabella's faithful and clever servant, Pedrolino, artfully dodges danger as he attempts to keep Isabella and Flavio together.  This ridiculously silly show features disguise, deceit, insults, contemporary pop culture references, intellectual humor, comic swordfights, sexy pants, gaudy hats, bawdy bits, slapstick and fart jokes.  Join us for a raucous evening that will make you feel smarter and dumber at the same time!

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College production of Las Hermanas Padilla at the Kennedy Center American College Theater was very well received by both the respondents from the region and the audiences. Students respresented themselves very well and presented the show for packed houses for all three performance.
