It was also the first time in the history of the Anoka-Ramsey program
in which the weather did not permit even one practice on the field and
squeezed whatever games (mostly Central Division contests) we could put
down on paper into the days that were close to allowable for outdoor
baseball into a final 15-day period between April 14-29.
In all, Anoka-Ramsey played 21 games, winning 9 and losing 12, missing
out on the post-season Minnesota Community Conference tournament.
Injuries and other intangibles that left the roster without depth also
hurt during the final drive in which 17 of those 21 games were played.
The team was officially eliminated on the final day of play by Central
Division champion St. Cloud Technical."It got down to a matter of which teams focused best under the extreme
circumstances of spring 2008," said head coach Tom Yelle. "We,
obviously, were not quite as sharp as some of the other teams. But our
kids hung in there, did their best — both on the field and in the
classroom — and pushed it as far as they could push. It just was not to
be this spring. I applaud their efforts and their drive. I also
appreciate the support of those instructors, who had to bear with our
players' unpredictable, ever-changing schedule." |
