Services Provided by Upward Bound During the Academic Year and Summer
Upward Bound strives to offer services that assist students in reaching educational goals. In order to do this, services are provided during the academic year and during the summer. Participation in the academic and summer programs is required by all students. It is not optional.
Academic Year
The academic year services begin in September and end in June. The two main components of academic year services are tutoring and monthly Saturday Sessions.
Tutoring is held at each high school two times a week for two hours. Please see the schedule below.

2:45-4:45 p.m. | Saturday sessions are held monthly at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. The sessions typically run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Students will be notified of date and time changes. Please consult the calendar for specific Saturday session dates. Upward Bound attempts to meet the needs of students at each grade level. Many workshops are offered that are grade level specific. Activities on Saturdays may include: study skills, ACT preparation workshop, assistance with financial aid or college applications, cultural activities and campus visits. Summer servicesThe six-week summer program begins the middle to end of June and runs until the last week of July. Upward Bound is able to provide transportation to students during the summer program only. The day begins at 8:30am and ends at 2:30pm. During this time, students will take classes in the areas of English, mathematics, lab science and foreign language. Classes are held Monday-Thursday with Fridays as designated field trip days. Students are able to earn a high school credit.
Additional summer opportunities include: tuition-paid class for graduated seniors, work-study opportunities for Juniors and Seniors, and an end of summer trip for students that have participated in the summer program and academic year.
