| Anoka-Ramsey Community College continues
to show its commitment to the community and
to the success of learning through its ninth
year of KID U — a summer program with
more than 295 courses designed for kids and
teens. Courses are held at the Cambridge and
Coon Rapids campuses and offer out-of-the-ordinary
opportunities to students in a college setting.
“KID U shows students that college is
an attainable possibility,” says LeAnn
Snidarich, Kid U program director. “One
boy who first came to KID U as a nine-year-old
would always say, ‘I’ll never go
to college.’ He continued to attend KID
U for the next four years and he’s made
a complete turn around. Now he says, ‘When
I go to college …’ That’s
so satisfying to see and it’s what this
program is all about.”
Programs range from performing and visual
arts to science and technology. KID U has assembled
an enthusiastic and extremely talented group
of instructors who are specialists in their
field.
Classes are split into five summer sessions
in July: 14-17, 21-24, and 28-31 at the Coon
Rapids Campus and August 4 – 11 and August
14 – 17 at the Cambridge Campus. Classes
sizes are limited and fill quickly. Registration
is going on now through the first day of classes
and can be arranged by phone, fax, mail or in-person.
Scholarships are available to qualifying students.
