Anoka-Ramsey Community College Welcomes New Faculty

Coon Rapids, Minn. - As the college begins its Fall 2004 semester, many new faces will be spotted touring both campuses of Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC). And it’s not just the students who are new.

Seven full-time faculty members have joined the Coon Rapids Campus, and two have joined the Cambridge campus. New faculty this year include:

Candace Blazek, of the Math Department on the Coon Rapids Campus. Blazek holds an M.A. and a B.A. in mathematics from the University of North Dakota. She worked most recently as a senior business analyst and project manager for United Behavioral Health. Prior to that, she was an adjunct instructor of mathematics at Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, Minn.
Jennifer Braido Jennifer Braido, of the Biology Department on the Coon Rapids Campus. Braido holds an M.S. and a B.A. in biology from the University of Illinois-Urbana, with a specialty in teaching biological sciences in higher education. She worked most recently as an adjunct instructor at Minneapolis Community and Technical College and at Inver Hills Community College.
Betsy DiFabio, of the Nursing Department on the Coon Rapids Campus. DiFabio holds an M.S.N. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a clinical specialty in pediatrics. She earned a B.S.N. from the University of Iowa. Most recently, she has worked as an adjunct clinical faculty member in pediatrics and maternal/child nursing for ARCC.
John Ivanauskas John Ivanauskas, of the Business Department on the Coon Rapids Campus. Ivanauskas holds an M.B.A. in accounting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a B.S. in math and physics from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Most recently, he served as controller of Transpower Technologies in Reno, Nev. Prior to that, he served as chair of the Undergraduate Accounting Department at Edgewood College in Madison, Wis., and Assistant Professor of Accounting at Bemidji State University.
Mark Lambert Mark Lambert, of the Art Department on the Coon Rapids Campus. Lambert holds an M.F.A. in ceramics from Brigham Young University and a B.F.A. in ceramics from Utah State University. He has taught for several years at both the high school and college levels, and his artwork has been shown nationally and internationally.
Sheila Paul, of the Nursing Department on the Cambridge Campus. Paul holds an M.S. in nursing from the University of Phoenix, a B.S. from Bethel College, and an L.P.N. from Anoka-Hennepin Technical College. She worked most recently as a part-time clinical nursing instructor for the Coon Rapids Campus of ARCC. Prior to that, she was an RN at Mercy Hospital and Cambridge Medical Center.
Dave Roddy Dave Roddy, of the Math Department on the Cambridge Campus. Roddy holds an M.S. in mathematics from St. Cloud State University, and a B.S. from the University of Minnesota. He has more than 20 years experience teaching math at the high school level, and he has taught at the college level through ARCC’s Connections Program.
Scott Wrobel Scott Wrobel, of the English Department on the Coon Rapids Campus. Wrobel holds an M.F.A. in creative writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a B.A. in literature/creative writing from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. Most recently, he served on the English Department Faculty at Pine Technical College in Pine City, Minn. He is also a published author and an arts grant recipient.
Karl Wielgus Karl Wielgus, of the Sociology Department on the Coon Rapids Campus. Wielgus holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Columbia University in New York, and a B.A. from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He has more than 20 years of teaching experience, including several as an adjunct faculty member at ARCC. He also has 13 years experience as a director of training for a health care system.
