Choir Concert
at Cambridge Campus on April 30
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge
Campus Choir performed Faure’s Requim,
as part of the Festival Choir, at Carnegie
Hall in New York City, March 30. The Requiem
was performed under the direction of Dr.
Anton Armstrong, and featured soprano
soloist Mary Wilson, acknowledged by the
New York Times as one of today's rising
stars.
“This was an amazing experience!
Neither the choir members nor I will ever
forget it,” says Jan Kopp, Choir
Director at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
“It was exciting to be part of a
concert of this high caliber and for the
students to sing in a performance space
with the history that Carnegie Hall has.”
When the choir was not in rehearsals
or performing, they attended the Broadway
musical “Lion King” and enjoyed
sightseeing.
The trip to New York was also family
excursion for Dawn and Bethany Holmquist.
This mother and daughter are both students
at the Cambridge Campus and members of
the choir.
"It was a great privilege to perform
at Carnegie Hall,” says Dawn Holmquist,
choir member. “We were able to work
with top-ranked professional musicians
from New York City. It was a trip of a
lifetime.” It was especially enjoyable
to share this experience with my daughter
Bethany (Holmquist)."
Now it’s back to work for the choir
who is scheduled to perform at the Cambridge
Campus, Campus Center Food Court on April
30 at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and
open to the public. For more information
