All tickets sold are guaranteed to win. Tickets sold for $50 are drawn first, followed by tickets for $20 and finally tickets for $15. Everyone purchasing a ticket will leave with an original piece of art, the majority of which has been created and donated by Lambert.

“I consider myself a teacher first, then an artist,” says Lambert of his work and his contribution to the raffle.

“This scholarship is another way for me to help support the students in their education. I find it very exciting to see a student succeed after they have struggled to learn to throw. When they do get it, their faces show that thrill. It is such a life lesson-the effort you put in equals what you get out of an endeavor.”

Along with Lambert’s works, ceramics pieces by Bob Briscoe, Linda Christianson, Dick Cooter, Jeff Oestreich, Steven Rolf, Wil Shynkaurk, Jason Trebs and others will be auctioned during the raffle drawings.

The college’s art faculty are attempting to raise the $2,700 needed to hit $10,000 and thus make the Perpetual Clay Scholarship endowed. The name of the scholarship was selected because scholarship recipients will be required to donate a piece of their own work to a future raffle to keep the funds in the scholarship at a certain level and insure it continues perpetually. The sale of recycled clay by the college Art Department also funds the scholarship.

Art students also take an active part in their education by joining local artists in the North Artist Studio Crawl, hosting bi-annual student art sales and most recently traveling to Duluth to deepen their understanding of the art community.
