(Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) set a record for the number of Minnesota Job Skills Grants received by a college at one time. A total of five within one year.

ARCC has a strong history of satisfying the training and workforce development needs of businesses. One resource ARCC has used is the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership -- a workforce development fund, established by the legislature and operated through the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The fund supports education institutions partnering with businesses to support business training needs, and increase the capacity of colleges and schools.

The grant projects are true partnerships in which the college and businesses work together to satisfy common needs and gain capacity. ARCC uses their new capacity to serve other businesses in the region. ARCC has been active in MJSP since receiving their grant with Possis Medical in 1997. The college has now received 17 and is actively managing 14 MJSP grants.

The five grants awarded to ARCC include:

CIMA LABS INC. for $360,000. Training for CIMA LABS, a pharmaceutical company, includes operator training on five primary production processes, plus training on data collection, statistical processes, the drug development process, Train-the-Trainer and project management.
