“I truly hope that people will come to support the students and enjoy the music,” says college Choir Director Jan Kopp. “There will be a wide variety of music, from the popular music of 20th century back to the Renaissance such as a piece called ‘O Occhi Manza Mia’ by Orlando Di Lasso.”

People will also be treated to traditional spirituals, such as “Have Mercy on Me” and “Wade in the Water;” African Songs of Freedom, such as “Ipharadisi,” “Freedom is Coming,” and “Siyahamba;” and more contemporary sounds, such as “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers, “Down to the River to Pray” from the movie “O Brother Where Art Thou,” “What’ll I Do?” by Irving Berlin, “Kokomo,” by the Beach Boys and much more.

“Music is experiential learning, giving students the opportunity to connect with others and work in a group setting,” Kopp says of the college choir experience. “What one person does effects the entire choir. From this intimate core, the music itself can bring students in contact with great minds through time, space and other cultures. Collectively, contributes to a very well-rounded education.”
