Dr. John P. Miller, the speaker at Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s 21st Annual Science Night, will present information about marrow and blood stem cell donation as a means to improve the length and quality of human life. The public is invited to attend the event May 1, 7 p.m., Rm. G202 at the Cambridge Campus.

The National Marrow Donor Program helps individuals who need a life-saving marrow or blood-cell transplant by connecting patients, doctors, donors and researchers with the resources they need to help more people live longer, healthier lives.

“Dr. Miller was invited to be this year's presenter because of high interest in the Marrow Donor Program and to discuss the current research on this topic,” says Mary Januschka, college biology faculty member.

Dr. Miller is Vice President and Senior Medical Director of Donor Medical Services, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). In addition, he is Medical Director for the Center for Cord Blood at the NMDP.

“The campus has offered Science Night almost every year for the last 20 years,” says Januschka. “Brad Wold, [biology faculty member] created the event to promote discussions with area science teachers and to share current science topics with the community.”
