Collaborative Conference Highlights Expanding Holistic Health Field

Nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, massage, physical and occupational therapists, energy healers, nursing faculty and anyone interested in the growing field of integrative health is invited to attend: the Holistic Therapies: Discovering Health and Harmony conference, Friday, Feb. 15, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the University of Minnesota Continuing Education Conference Center in St. Paul. The $129 fee includes lunch, refreshments, materials and a continuing education certificate.

Chunyi Lin (shown), a Qigong master and founder of Spring Forest Qigong, shares his knowledge about ancient Chinese Qigong techniques to transform unconditional love into healing energy. Lin will be the keynote speaker at the Holistic Therapies: Discovering Health and Harmony conference, Friday, Feb. 15, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., University of Minnesota Continuing Education Conference Center, St. Paul.


A collaborative effort by Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Mercy Hospital, North Memorial Hospital, Regions Hospital and Unity Hospital, the conference begins and concludes with keynote speaker, Chunyi Lin, founder of Spring Forest Qigong, co-author of the best-selling book, “Born to Heal,” and co-author of the Qigong chapter in the Mayo Clinic’s recently released, “Textbook of Complementary and Alternative Medicine.”

The main portion of the day includes breakout sessions that allow participants to learn more about subjects that most interest them, expand their knowledge of integrative health and healing and learn new healing techniques. At the conclusion of the conference, participants will be able to:

  • Identify techniques to engage and empower others/patients in their own healing process
  • Describe how various integrative therapies promote relaxation and the reduction of pain, stress and anxiety
  • Formulate body-mind-spirit strategies that best fit goals
  • List holistic therapy resources in the metro healthcare community

For those who leave the conference wanting more, Anoka-Ramsey offers an associate degree in science credit program in integrative health and health as well as continuing education and customized training courses.
