Kevin Landsverk is a current glassblowing student who plans to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s in fine art. He will be selling some of his new work, which college glassblowing instructor, Bob Toensing claims he has not seen anything like before.

Along with the chance to purchase original artwork, Landsverk sees the sale packed with opportunities.

“The sale offers a chance to see the high-quality work and the passion for art here at the college,” Landsverk says. “There will also be beautiful artwork from great artist for dirt cheap, about 90% less than the same work at a gallery and people can discuss the work with the artist who created it.”

Landsverk, who has sold his work in galleries, also encourages the public to take advantage of having one of only three glassblowing programs at a community college in the country by visiting the campus to watch the glassblowers at work in the studio.

“I would encourage people to come in and see the students blowing glass, throwing pots, developing photos, painting,” says Landverk. “They may even want to take some classes. The college has extremely talented artists working in all mediums.”

Fellow glassblowing student and teaching assistant, Alexandra Dela can often be found in the studio too. She has a little different take on the sale.

“There’s no better way to show support for the college and student artists than to come to the sale and take a little of the college home with you,” Dela says.

As part of that support, the organizing Art Club will donate 10 percent of all sales to the Coon Rapids Foundation for a scholarship.

Anoka-Ramsey offers an associate in fine art degree in art that provides students with extensive studio experience and a solid grounding in art history and visual theory. The program incorporates the Minnesota transfer curriculum, facilitating easy transfer to four-year institutions.
