Anoka-Ramsey Community College to Honor Donors with First-Ever Legacy Dinner

To honor those who have donated to the college’s scholarship programs and to recognize their support of students, Anoka-Ramsey Community College is hosting a black tie Legacy Dinner, Friday, Nov. 30 at the Courtyards of Andover. A special recognition, including a plaque and a blown-glass award, created individually by college faculty member and renowned glassblowing artist, Bob Toensing, will honor contributors who have given $50,000 or more to the campus foundations.

The dinner, set for Nov. 30, is intended to honor those who have donated to the college’s scholarship funds and establishes the Legacy Club for donors giving $50,000 or more to student scholarships.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s first-ever Legacy Dinner, Nov. 30, will bestow awards (shown) created individually by college faculty member and renowned glassblowing artist, Bob Toensing to honorees who have donated $50,000 or more to student scholarships.

The first Legacy Award recipients will be: Juanita and Chuck Peterson, Memorial Hospital Foundation, Coon Rapids Lions Foundation, Geri and Darby Nelson, Pam and Jim Deal, the Ramsey Lions Club, Peoples Bank of Commerce, Woodland Development Corporation, Unity Hospital Auxiliary, Unity & Mercy Hospitals, the Family of Dora Keillor and Possis Medical, Inc.

Connexus Energy has generously provided $10,000 in sponsorship for the event so that no scholarship donations will be used for event expenses.

"We support Anoka-Ramsey Community College and its programs, which encourage growth of our local businesses and the development of tomorrow's community leaders,” says Newland.

The Legacy donors, all other donors and their guests will enjoy a gourmet dinner and a program featuring the Legacy Award recognitions and guest speaker, Cyndy Brucato, KSTP 5 Eyewitness News on-air anchor.

Brucato has been recognized with a Peabody Award for Excellence in Journalism. She has served as Deputy Chief of Staff, Director of Communications and Press Secretary for Minnesota Governor Arne H. Carlson; Campaign Co-Director for the Carlson-Benson Gubernatorial Re-election Campaign; and Director of Communications for the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

In addition to the Legacy donors, the college will also recognize all donors in the remaining giving levels:

Benefactor's Club, $10,000 thru $49,999; Honorary Club, $5,000 thru $9,999; President's Club, $2,500 thru $4,999; Director's Club, $1,000 thru $2,499; Scholar's Club, $500 thru $999; the College Club, $100 thru $499; and the Loyalty Club, $1 thru $99.
