Works, such as “Intertwine: Burrowing” shown here, of Anoka-Ramsey Community College faculty member and artist, Meg Bussey will be on display at the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, Aug. 11 through Sept. 22.

Bussey, a printmaker, says she is intrigued with the language of gesture and movement in humans and in nature, and the unexpected poignancy of a glimpsed moment. She is also interested in capturing painterly qualities in print. Critics say that emotional resonance is a hallmark of her work.

At Bussey’s invitation two other printmakers will also join the showing: Kurt Seaberg, who's work critics claim exudes a deep calm and the attraction of wild places; and James Boyd-Brent, who often uses multiple viewpoints in his depictions of natural and manmade structures and images of the Mississippi River.

“We have each adopted the Twin Cities as home and graduated in printmaking from the University of Minnesota," Bussey says about the commonality between herself, Seaberg and Boyd-Bent. "We are all members of Highpoint Center for Printmaking, and, not least important, we all share a birth year.”

The public is invited to meet the artists at the opening reception of “Three Artist-Printmakers," Saturday, Aug. 11, 6-8 p.m. at the center. The event is free and open to all.

Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
