One of three programs in Minnesota

The physical therapy assistant program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) was awarded accreditation for 10 years by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

"We look forward to continuing to provide a high-quality physical therapist assistant program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College," says Lisa Lentner, Program Director at the college. "As only one of three programs of its kind in the state of Minnesota, we attract students from a wide geographic region. And enrollment is growing each year."

Enrollment actually increased by 50 percent in fall 2003, and 100 percent of the 2003 program graduates are currently employed as physical therapist assistants.

"The physical therapist assistant program is a nice alternative to nursing," explains Lentner. "With our nursing programs being so full right now, students are looking for another healthcare option."

The physical therapist assistant program has been an accredited option at ARCC since 2000. CAPTE requires every physical therapist assistant program in the nation to undertake renewal process once the accreditation expires. Prior to 2000, the physical therapy assistant program was a joint effort between Anoka-Hennepin Technical College and ARCC.
