Following a slow start by both teams in the final regional match-up, the Golden Rams went on a run sparked by Desirae Robinson, a freshman from Osseo, when she erupted for four three-pointers on four consecutive possessions and then added a deep two-pointer on another trip down the floor. Leading 36-11 at halftime, the Golden Rams stayed in control for the remainder of the game.
Not only does this latest win qualify the team for the national tournament, it also marks their 13th consecutive win, leaves them undefeated on their home court and brings their season record to 23-4.
Head Coach Dave DeWitt credits the strong season to the Golden Rams defense and particularly three players: Amanda Reh and Love Washington, “guards who could flat out put heat on people,” and Sonja Ellingson (see below), “is as good as "anyone I've had in 30 years of coaching.”
“The whole team understands and appreciates the history and legacy of Anoka-Ramsey women's basketball and their quest all season was to continue in a manner that makes everyone ever associated with Anoka-Ramsey women's basketball proud,” says head coach, Dave DeWitt. “We can all be very proud of these young women as they have made a mark of their own that only adds to the rich and proud history of this program.”
