The team struggled offensively, evident when Rochester jumped quickly to a seven-to-one lead just five minutes into the game. The Rams held Rochester to just two points during the next 15 minutes however while scoring 22 points. At half-time, the Rams held a 23-9 lead. In the second half, the Rams continued with solid defensive pressure and scored another 29 points.

Sonja Ellingson (Maple Grove) led the team with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Reh (Monticello) scored 13 points and hauled down right defensive rebounds. Both Ellingson and Reh were named to the All-Tournament Team.

To earn the championship berth, the Rams dispatched Minnesota West 61-31 in Saturday's semi-final game. Ellingson and Marlayna Graff led the scoring with 15 points each.

The Ram’s defense has carried the team all season, including in the three tournament games when the team only gave up 108 points, a 36-point per game average. With the three victories over the weekend, the Rams raise their record to 22-4.

The ARCC Rams will host the Region 13A Championship Game against Western Technical College, Friday, March 2, 6 p.m., Coon Rapids Campus Gymnasium. The winner will go to the National Tournament in Utica, New York.
