“Southwestern Iowa has a very interesting music program,” says ARCC music faculty member Danielle Vinup. “Audio Radiance tours and has produced records. They will perform a full set--the bulk of the program.”
The ARCC Chamber Singers have been preparing a jazz performance and will perform under the direction of Vinup.
“It will be great for the students to share the stage with an experienced ensemble such as Audio Radiance,” says Vinup. “For many of the students, this semester is their first exposure to vocal jazz. It requires a new way of thinking about music and singing. Harmonies are tight, rhythms can be messy and improvisation is scary. But they are doing well with the challenge.”
The Como Park High School’s singers will be led by the school’s choir director, Carole Whitney who was once a music student at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
The event is free, open to the public and, since jazz is improvisational, it sure to be entertaining. For more information, contact Vinup at 763.433.1428 or visit www.AnokaRamsey.edu.
