Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) Office of Diversity and Multiculturalism Launches Speaker Series

To promote acceptance of diversity and multiculturalism, the Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) Diversity and Multicultural Affairs Office is hosting a series of speakers to put a human face on people with interesting, unique or extraordinary experiences.

The first speaker in the series will be ARCC Admissions Advisor-Recruiter Tommie Powell. Powell will speak and answer questions about his experience as an African-American living in New Orleans, La. during hurricane Katrina. The event will take place Wednesday, Jan. 31, 9 a.m., Cambridge Campus Rm. IS 119; and 1 p.m., Coon Rapids Campus Cafeteria.

“We’re hoping to present one speaker each month through the school year,” says ARCC Multicultural and Diversity Director, Gary Johnson-Cheeseman. “We will start with people from the college and expand. Our goal is to showcase diverse people and allow them to tell their stories.”
