Join Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts gang in Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s (ARCC) upcoming musical, “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” scheduled for February 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17 at the Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center.
Based on the comic strip "Peanuts" by Charles M. Schulz, this off-Broadway musical casts nine ARCC students as Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the gang capturing moments from Valentine's Day to the baseball season and experiencing all the tender childhood emotions in between.
“The script brings to life the popular characters of the most successful comic strip in history,” says Director and ARCC theatre faculty member Scott Ford. “It’s a colorful up-tempo show.”
The play is told through short scenes that mimic the four-panel format of the original Peanuts comic strip. Peanuts’ characters make appearances to comment on Charlie Brown or just life itself.
The music was rewritten for a very successful Broadway revival in 1999, which won two Tony Awards and includes popular songs, such as “My New Philosophy,” “T-E-A-M (The Baseball Game)” and “Little Known Facts.”
This production also marks the first ARCC design by new Technical Director, Peter Lerohl.
“We are very excited to have Peter on board and feel fortunate to have found a designer of his caliber,” adds Ford.
All performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center. There will be an alumni performance Feb. 10 and an interpreted performance Feb. 15. Tickets are $8, available at the door, in advance at the College Bookstore or by calling 763.433.1250.
Don’t miss this chance to connect or reconnect with Minnesota’s own Peanuts gang for an evening of song, dance and family fun.
