“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Lampi’s extensive and distinctive experience in higher education to our administrative team,” says Dr. Patrick M. Johns, ARCC President. “Dr. Lampi’s commitment to higher education is proven through her life-long dedication to teaching and learning. Her advanced skills and background, particularly in initiating new programs, will help keep Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s healthcare programs in demand as we continue to meet the need for quality healthcare.”
“Of course, Anoka-Ramsey’s nursing and physical therapist assistant programs have excellent reputations, but what ultimately made me decide to accept the position was Pat [ARCC President] and Susan [Dr. Susan Tarnowski, ARCC Vice President of Educational Services],” Lampi says. “Both have a strong collaborative approach to management and a sense of purpose.”
Lampi brings 18 years experience teaching in the dental hygiene program at Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU) to her new position. She also served as Director for Presentation College-Fairmont Campus, a private college out of Aberdeen, N.D., and was responsible for initiating their four-year nursing and allied health programs in Fairmont, Minn. Lampi is currently certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and served as a volunteer EMT in her hometown. She earned her undergraduate degree and her master’s degree in Health Science with a concentration in Community Health through MSU (formerly Mankato State University). In August, she received her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration through Capella University.
As Dean, Lampi will maintain and enhance ARCC’s current healthcare programs and provide a vision for the future of healthcare programs adherent to ARCC’s strategic plan.
“We [ARCC] need to remain poised to meet current societal demands along with the increased demand for quality healthcare expected as the huge population of well-educated baby boomers begins to require comprehensive services,” Lampi says. “Eventually I would like to explore the need and appropriateness of programs such as speech pathology, phlebotomy, physical therapist aide as well as other areas that require well-educated, well-trained professionals.”
