Student enrollment surges to highest point in 10 years at Anoka-Ramsey Community College

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is the college of choice for more students this Fall than in the past 10 years. In fact, new student headcount has increased by 6 percent and overall headcount has increased by 4.2 percent since Fall Semester 2005. That equates to more than 7,500 students currently attending the college.

“We no longer want to be the best kept secret around,” says Dr. Patrick Johns, President of Anoka-Ramsey Community College. “More and more students are exploring options and finding that Anoka-Ramsey has excellent academic programs, impeccable student services, and all at a lower cost than any college or university in Minnesota.

“Our staff and faculty work extremely hard to maintain a fiscally-sound institution to keep tuition and fees affordable for students. We understand how difficult paying for college can be.”

Allowing the secret to be let out was no accident. Anoka-Ramsey Community College made a concerted effort to improve its recruitment efforts by attending more community events in more locations, strengthening relationships with prospective students though improved communications and increasing marketing and public relations efforts.

“After my initial contact with the college, I found that staff and faculty truly care about me and my college education,” says Rachel Heebl, a student who has attended the both ARCC campuses. “I plan to transfer to the University of Minnesota and Anoka-Ramsey is providing a great start for me.”

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is comprised of two riverside campuses: one in Cambridge Minnesota on the Rum River; and one in Coon Rapids Minnesota on the Mississippi River.

The college offers a variety of two-year degree programs and is a top choice for students interested in transferring to four year institutions. Bachelor- and graduate-level degree programs are also available on campus through Metropolitan State University and St. Cloud State University. ARCC has also been leading provider of continuing education and customized training for businesses.
