Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge Campus Features Novelist Julie Schumacher

Anoka-Ramsey Community College welcomes the public to its Cambridge Campus, Oct 3, 2006 to hear acclaimed novelist Julie Schumacher speak at the nineteenth annual Minnesota Writer Program. Schumacher will read excerpts from her work and describe her path to becoming a published author.

Schumacher novels for young adults and adults recreate the joys and frustrations of family relationships. Her novels include “The Book of One Hundred Truths,” “The Body is Water,” “Grass Angel,” and “The Chain Letter and An Explanation for Chaos.” She was named the ALA Notable Book of 1995 for “The Body is Water” and was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Awards. She also received the O.Henry Award for her short story "Dummies" in 1996 and for "The Private Life of Robert Schumann" in 1990.

Born in Delaware and a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio, Schumacher earned a Masters of Fine Arts in English and Fiction from Cornell University in New York. She currently lives in the Twin Cities and teaches creative writing at the University of Minnesota.

The Minnesota Writer Event is free and open to the public. It is an annual event that offers the opportunity to meet and hear the work of a successful local author. Promising writers or those who have a love for reading will enjoy this event.
