The Foundation awarded 64 scholarships totaling $50,722 for the 2005-2006 school year. These scholarships are designed to assist students in East Central Minnesota, regardless of financial status, to continue their education at the college. Area businesses and individuals donate all funds used for the scholarships.

"The best value in higher education is the community college," said Foundation Board President Dennis Troff. He noted that many students wouldn't be able to attend without scholarship assistance, and he thanked donors for their commitment to helping students reach their goals.

Scholarship recipients were given an opportunity to thank the donors who helped fund their scholarships. One nursing student who spoke to attendees noted that her scholarship allowed her to focus more fully on her studies, spend more time with her children and save her house.
