Scholarship Funds Available for Anoka-Ramsey Community College Students

The application deadline looms for 2006-2007 scholarships at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. To be considered, current and future students at the Coon Rapids and Cambridge Campuses must submit their application materials by Friday, March 31.

“We have money to award to students,” says Pat Johns, president of Anoka-Ramsey Community College. “Thanks to the generosity of individuals, organizations, and businesses in the area, both of our campus foundations have generous scholarship programs, so we work hard at marketing their availability.”

Students of all ages are eligible for a scholarship from one of the college’s two foundations. The Cambridge Campus Foundation funds scholarships for students primarily attending the Cambridge Campus, and the Coon Rapids Foundation funds students primarily attending the Coon Rapids Campus.

Awards range from $200 to $2,000. Criteria include areas such as credit load, GPA, residency, major, veteran affiliation, and gender. Depending on the scholarship, application materials can include background information on a student’s academic, school activity, employment, and volunteer involvement, personal essays, and a demonstration of financial need.

The foundations raise money to provide student scholarships in support of their mission to promote an awareness and understanding of the college and its educational, cultural and developmental value. Last year, the Cambridge Campus and the Coon Rapids Campus foundations awarded more than $141,000 to more than 170 students.

Students interested in applying for a scholarship can pick up an application at either campus or download one by visiting www.anokaramsey.edu/alumni and selecting the appropriate campus foundation link.
