Set in Ancient Rome, the popular show features crafty slave Pseudolus, who struggles to win the hand of a beautiful, dimwitted courtesan for his equally dimwitted young master in exchange for his own long-sought freedom. Singing, dancing and (almost) a human sacrifice all combine in a mixture of mischief, mishaps, mistaken identities and mayhem. With hilarious songs by Stephen Sondheim and a raucous book by Larry Gelbart (creator of M*A*S*H) and Burt Shevelove, the show delivers on the promise of its signature song: “Comedy tonight!”

The production is directed by ARCC theatre faculty member Scott Ford, with set and lighting design by ARCC theatre technician Tom Valach. All performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on the Coon Rapids Campus. The Feb. 9 show will be an interpreted performance for the hearing impaired. Tickets are $8, available at the door, and in advance at the College Bookstore, or by calling 763-433-1250.
