College Food Drive Brings Holiday Cheer to Many

Coon Rapids, MN - A holiday food drive at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) collected close to 500 pounds of food and household staples for donation to a local food shelf.

In early December, students in the ARCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the college’s honor society, challenged the college’s faculty and staff to compete against the student body. The goal was to see which group could generate the most donations. Over the past three weeks, the faculty and staff won handily, collecting 12 boxes of supplies to the students’ five boxes.

Though the total amount of donations represented about half of what was collected in last year’s holiday drive, all involved deemed the effort a worthy one.

Student organizers delivered the collected supplies to the Anoka County Armory in Anoka. Key organizers included Phi Theta Kappa members Jared Hudalla, Amanda Even and Jenna Haring, as well as ARCC Secretary for the President Lynnette Brambrink.
