Polar explorer, environmental champion and educator Will Steger will offer a multi-media presentation on the Cambridge Campus of Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Steger’s presentation will cover his expeditions and the importance of fighting global warming. As the only person to cross both of the Earth’s polar areas by dogsled, Steger has witnessed firsthand the concrete, damaging effects of global warming. His experiences have led him to speak out for the preservation of the Arctic.

Polar explorer and environmentalist Will Steger will speak at Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge Campus on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Steger has led numerous significant feats in dogsled exploration, such as the first confirmed dogsled journey to the North Pole without re-supply (1986), the 1,600-mile south-north traverse of Greenland (1988), the historic 3,471-mile International Trans-Antarctica Expedition (1989-90), the International Arctic Project - the first and only dogsled traverse of the Arctic Ocean from Russia to Ellesmere Island in Canada (1995), and the Arctic Transect Expedition (2004).
Steger has ties with ARCC through his foundation’s work with Peter Wahlstrom, a part-time Health, Physical Education and Recreation faculty member on the Cambridge Campus. Wahlstrom, along with ARCC faculty member Brett Larson, co-runs the college's Boundary Waters Wilderness Challenge, offered every summer to ARCC students.
Steger’s presentation is free and open to the public. It is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Cambridge Campus College Center Food Court.
