GERO 208: Introduction to Gerontology (Tues. 6-8:40 p.m.) First class meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 13.
This course will introduce you to the interdisciplinary study of human aging within in the U.S. and around the world. The processes of aging (physiological, psychological, and sociological) will be explored through the primary theme for this course - diversity in the experience of aging.

GERO 425 & 525: Dementia and Aging (Mon. 6-8:40 p.m.) First class meeting is Monday, September 12.
This interdisciplinary course examines dementia in older persons from three inter-related perspectives. The first perspective focuses on the nature, causes and symptoms of dementia in later life. Conditions resulting in dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, will be stressed. The second perspective focuses on the impact dementia in later life has on the family. Issues of family care giving will be stressed. The third perspective examines the individual experience of dementia in later life. Strategies of coping with dementia in later life will be addressed. Additionally, ethical, political and programmatic issues will be explored throughout each of these perspectives.
